Whats wrong with my water pump?

i returned home from work the other night and my water pump was running which was weird because it usually only runs when someone is taking a shower or doing laundry and my laundry room(where my pump is located) was very warm so the pump must have been running for a wile, then i notice the Air Volume Control piece had a leak coming from a hole it had in it so i flipped the breaker for the pump. Today i replaced the Air Volume Control piece and was hoping i fixed it but of course not, i turn the breaker on and wait a wile so the tank can fill, after about a half hour i knock on the side of the tank to see if it was filled but it sounded hollow, i turned the drainage valve to see if anything would come out but it didn't.so basically my pump runs but it doesn't fill the tank and nothing comes out of any of the faucets and the gauge on my water pump stays at 0. Can someone please help me?
